Priyanka Chopra was born on 18th July 1982 to the family of Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra & Dr. Madhu Chopra, an event that transformed the life of every one around her. This first born girl child of a large extended family was welcomed like a star. With large twinkling eyes and the most fascinating smile she was a winner.
Priyanka had a very varied upbringing . Having joined an Army family, she moved from Leh-ladakh in the north to Kerala in the south from Bombay in the west to Jamshedpur in the East . She imbibed the ethos of the multicultural Indian society. A family favorite she grew up in the warmth & Love offered by her grandparents, aunts & uncles. All of this went into the making of a very warm, loving & confident personality.
She started her Education from La Martiniere Girls College in Lucknow as a resident student, A short stay at Maria Goretti College in Bareilly prepared her for further studies in the USA. Having completed class 10th from Boston USA she decided to become a software Engineer or a Criminal Psychologist. Suddenly life took change with the Femina Miss India contest, which she won with aplomb.
HOBBIES: Have been varied at different times. Singing & Writing poetry has been her all times favourite. She started performing at musical shows since three years of age along with her father & uncle , who are both singers of great repute.
AMBITIONS: She aims for the stars after completing her education. She intends taking up a social cause closest to her heart. She is a movie Buff and would love to join the galaxy if a good offer comes.

Oh My! Priyanka Chopra thinks she is the most desirable! Check out what brought this comment on as well as Priyanka Chopra's thoughts on, 'Fashion' and 'Dostana' in this exclusive DH! interview with Priyanka Chopra below.
DH!:You have been quite busy shooting back to back Films! What are your thoughts on 'Dostana' and 'Fashion'?
PC: I am happy with the way 'Fashion' has come out. People have responded to well. It's very different from 'Dostana'. I was very excited about both my films, and I thank everyone for their support for both my films.
DH!: I heard you had to lose weight for 'Dostana', was that difficult since you just had to gain weight for 'Fashion'?
PC: I am not at all diet conscious. I had to put on some weight for 'Fashion' since I was playing a Punjabi, but for 'Dostana' I had to lose the seven kilos that I had put on And I had to get in shape as well. More over I had a hard core diet, I had a proper workout schedule.
DH!: How was it working with both films back to back?
PC: It's not that difficult. If you've worked on your character, and your director knows what to do, then it's not really a difficult task to handle two characters at the same time. Once you leave one set and go into another, your mind subconsciously gets into the different mode of what you need to do.
DH!: Who's more desirable? John Abraham or Abhishek Bachchan?
PC: I think I am the most desirable. (laughs)
DH!: What's the biggest compliment you've received for 'Fashion'?
PC: I am overwhelmed with the response of Fashion. People have liked the performance. I received an sms, saying in this decade, after Rani in the film, 'Black' you've proved to be a fine actress. That was a huge compliment for me.
DH!: How was it to work in two Bollywood movies that have gay themes ?
PC: 'Dostana' is not a story of gays, it's a story of friends. Talking about the gay element, I think people are free to choose what their preferences. It's ironic that I did 'Dostana' after 'Fashion' because now I've understood that fashion is one industry which gives you the freedom of being yourself and yet also be creative at the same time. There are so many places where gay people are not respected, but the fashion industry lets you keep your preference. My movie,' Fashion' supports that as well.
PC: Yes, doing 'Fashion' was the most difficult for me. It was traumatic experience since I don't belong to the modeling world. I had a lot of model friends to help me out, and the best apart about shooting Fashion was about how I bonded with everyone.
DH!: Which best describes your style you look in 'Dostana' or 'Fashion'?
PC: My style statements differ from character to character. Like in Love Story 2050 I colored by hair, 'Drona' needed some action whereas 'Dostana' is a very funky and very feminine.

After careful selection of our finalists, Team Speak Up conducted a poll where 500 men and women of Mumbai voted from our panellists pick. Here you have it…drum roll please…India’s sexiest woman — Priyanka Chopra and sexiest man — Hrithik Roshan. While Priyanka beat the likes of Priyanka Gandhi and Sania Mirza, Hrithik scored over Salman Khan and Yuvraj Singh, amongst others.

Dostana earns Rs 100 Crores in four weeks
December 11, 2008 Was it the hottest hunks John Abraham- Abhishek Bacchan and alluring Priyanka? Or was it an redolent words 'Hum Dono Gay hai… Hey Mera Boy Friend Hai'? Well, we felt both these factors; macho chaps, alluring missy and the rigid theme of homosexuality heaped more popularities for the film 'Dostana'. The film witnessed grand openings at one extent while in some regions it raised controversies. Finally, 'Dostana' has leaped with laurels grossing Rs. 100 Crore in 4 weeks at World Wide Box office.
Dostana was released with 920 prints with over 200 prints for the overseas market. The film is the highest grossing Bollywood film ever in UAE and is holds third position in UK Box Office. Well, In North American Cinemas, its holds 16th position.
The film released all across the globe on 14 November while a day prior in Dubai. The other countries of overseas market include UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius, France, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Nigeria, Myanmar, Pakistan and Nepal.
Directed by debutant Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Karan Johar, the film witnessed mixed reviews while fetched high-profits in box offices. It stars Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra.

Jugal Hansraj’s first directorial venture Roadside Romeo may not have found many takers at the B.O. However, Yash Raj Films (producers of Roadside Romeo) seem to have their faith instilled in Jugal, who would be directing yet another film for the country’s premiere production house.
Jugal’s next directorial venture brings together a rather unusual pairing of actors Uday Chopra and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. The film is expected to go on floors early next year (2009) and well, it would be interesting to see the onscreen chemistry between Uday and Priyanka.

Piggy Chops dares to bare for boyfriend
Newcomer Harman Baweja is lucky to have a girlfriend like Priyanka Chopra.
She supports him in every way possible. She bailed him out and did her best to make his debut movie ‘Love Story 2050? work. Alas, that didn’t work out and Harman’s Hrithik aping too did no good for him.
Now like a supportive girl friend Piggy Chops is set to do a sizzling item number in his next flick ‘Victory’. And hold your breath, the reports are that she would be wearing nothing but a two piece. She’ll be shooting for it early in the New Year.
Harman might not admit it but it seems he’s shaken up by the fact that his extra expensive debut film bombed. The buzz is that there are no buyers for the flick.
Maybe that’s why he’s so hopeful that the inclusion of Priyanka might help the film to sell.
According to sources, ” The film ‘Victory’ was facing some production hassles and now they are finding it difficult to find buyers, especially since the industry is also reeling under the impact of the recession in the market. Although the film is backed by Adlabs; they are having trouble selling it. That Harman’s last film was a non-starter is also a factor. Distributors who had earlier shown interest have now backed out and agree to come back in on the deal if they are offered heavy cuts in the price.”
The source further adds, “Now one of the producers of the film, Manmohan Shetty, has urged the debutant director of the film, Ajit Pal, to put an item number in the film. This may just improve the prospects of the film on the ticket windows. Harman has requested girl friend Priyanka to do the number and she has agreed.” Well, that’s what true lovers do.
